OPEN CUP AT MASSEREENE GOLF CLUB
The Massereene lady golfers and guests were once again out in force on Friday to play in the Open Stableford Competition which was sponsored by ‘Glenwood of Antrim’. One hundred and thirty-three ladies representing twenty–three clubs competed for the prizes.
The weather at the start of the day was beautiful but those out in the afternoon had heavy rain to contend with and certainly had the worst conditions. The top score of the day was posted by June Hall (Massereene G.C.) with an excellent 44 points closely followed by Adrienne Hull (Clandeboye G.C.) with 40 points. This was Catherine’s first senior competition, and what a start, her superb performance qualified her as winner of the Massereene Ladies Open Cup.
At the presentation of prizes in the club house that evening Lady Captain, Mrs Mary Campbell, welcomed all the visitors to the club and thanked ‘Glenwood of Antrim’ for their generous sponsorship of this event. Mr. John McNeill of Glenwood of Antrim confirmed his continued sponsorship for the following year; he then congratulated the winners and presented them with their prizes.

MASSEREENE LADY GOLFERS FIRST OPEN OF THE SEASON A GREAT SUCCESS.
Cold winds greeted the Massereene lady golfers and their visitors on Friday the 18th of April as they took to the course for the first Open competition of the season.
There were two competitions to play for on the day; the Open Stableford sponsored by
‘Ultimate in Fashion’, and the Ulster Sports and Recreation Trust (U.S.R.T.) Qualifying – for Massereene players. A good turn out was recorded from a wide range of clubs at this ever popular venue and many respectable scores were recorded. The most notable of these came from Rockmount member Tish Gilmore whose score of thirty - eight points was the highest of the day.
In the club house that evening Lady vice - Captain Mrs Mary Campbell welcomed all the visitors to the club and thanked ‘Ultimate in Fashion’ for their continued generous sponsorship of this competition.
Mrs Mary Campbell then congratulated the winners and presented them with their prizes.

The lady golfers are now looking forward to the next big date Friday 16th May, Open Teams. This stableford competition which is sponsored by Dunadry Hotel / Mooney Group is for teams of three ladies and allows a maximum combined handicap of 80.
